Just to prove that hardly anyone can come up with something original I just read that they are planning to remake Highlander.  I also was trying to remember Aragon was not in the Hobbit was he.  They are planning for Aragon to be in the new Hobbit movie that they are starting to make.
Its better to burn out than to fade away

Remaking Highlander is not a bad idea.  It was a great cult film, but could be much more.  The original will always be great, but a remake will do good to.  I think there a lot of movies in that general time period that can be improved upon with current budgets and special effects.  Also, Hollywood was pretty cheesey back then.  I like the new rougher edge that some movies have now.  If I could ask one thing, it would be for them to go for an NC17 rating and cut it back to R for release.  Later they could add the scenes back in for a real adult gore-fest on the special edition.
So many subplots

Casting for a Highlander remake would be interesting. Maybe Christopher Lambert could play Rameriz this time. How about The Rock for the Kurgan. Not sure who'd make a good Russell Nash though.  :hmm:

The reason Aragorn will be in the new Hobbit is because they are making a two part movie.  The first part will cover the events in "The Hobbit".  Part two will cover the events that took place between The Hobbit and Fellowship of the Ring.  Aragorn was involved in a lot of stuff during that time period.  He infiltrated Dol Guldur when Gollum had been captured by Sauron and "rescued" him.  He also did some stuff with Gandalf during same time period.

You know, Highlander, albeit bastardized to death by the sequels and series, is over 20 years old; a remake is not unreasonable. But another Ring series? Come on...it's only five years old. Without a new storyline, why would people go see it yet again? The cult is dying out - I expect a loss in revenue. Sorry, I guess I'm just Bored With The Rings.

I think you're way off on that one DJ.  I bet the Hobbit will set world records when it's released.  Personally, I'd much rather see it than a remake of Highlander.  I think they pretty much played that story out with the TV series.

We shall see - someone thought SpeedRacer would be a good idea too. Who knows? I've been wrong before.
